About Pondicherry
Pondicherry (officially Puducherry) is a Union Territory on India's southeastern coast that was a French colony until 1954. The French colonial legacy is everywhere β in the mustard-yellow buildings of the French Quarter, in the broad tree-lined boulevards, in the street names and in the cafes serving French pastries.
Pondicherry blends French colonial heritage with Tamil culture in a unique fusion that you won't find anywhere else in India. The city is also home to the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and the experimental township of Auroville β an international community with the vision of human unity.
