About Thiruchendur
Thiruchendur Murugan Temple is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in Tamil Nadu and one of the six Arupadai Veedu temples β the six sacred abodes of Lord Murugan. The temple is uniquely situated on the Bay of Bengal shore, making it one of the most visually dramatic temples in India.
The temple dates back over 2,000 years with legends connecting it to Lord Murugan's victory over the demon Surapadman. The main presiding deity, Senthilnathan, is worshipped here and the temple draws millions of devotees each year, especially during the Skanda Sashti festival.
