Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Night Departure & Madikeri

Night departure from Bangalore/Chennai. Arrive Madikeri (Coorg) early morning. Morning: Check-in to coffee estate homestay or resort. Breakfast with freshly brewed Coorg filter coffee. Forenoon: Coffee Estate Walk — learn the complete journey from bean to cup. See how Arabica and Robusta are grown under shade trees amidst pepper vines. Process of hand-picking, pulping and drying. Afternoon: Abbey Falls — 70ft waterfall surrounded by coffee and spice plantations. One of Coorg's most photogenic spots. Omkareshwara Temple — unique temple combining Islamic and Gothic architecture. Evening: Raja's Seat — garden where Coorg kings watched the sunset. Today a serene public garden. Madikeri town walk — buy Coorg honey, wine, fresh coffee powder. Dinner with Kodava cuisine (pandi curry, kadambuttu). Overnight Madikeri.

Day 2

Dubare Elephant Camp & Nagarhole

Morning: Breakfast. Drive to Dubare Elephant Camp on the banks of Cauvery River. Elephant interaction — help mahouts bathe the gentle giants in the river. Unique, intimate wildlife experience. Forenoon: Drive to Nagarhole National Park (60 km) — one of Karnataka's richest tiger reserves. Jeep safari inside the park — spot gaur (Indian bison), spotted deer, elephants, leopard (rare), crocodiles and abundant birdlife. Afternoon: Return via Nagarhole River side — spot wildlife near water bodies. Evening: Return to Madikeri. Coorg toddy tasting (optional) — the traditional palm wine of Kodava culture. Campfire. Dinner. Overnight Madikeri.

Day 3

Iruppu Falls & Return

Morning: Breakfast. Drive to Iruppu Falls (Lakshmana Tirtha Falls) (60 km from Madikeri) — sacred waterfall near Brahmagiri Hills where the Lakshmana Tirtha river cascades 170 feet into a sacred pool. Pilgrims believe bathing here during Shivaratri brings moksha. Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary viewpoint — see the intersection of three states (Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu) from the hilltop. Late morning: Visit Namdroling Monastery (Golden Temple) in Bylakuppe — one of the largest Tibetan settlements outside Tibet. The stunning gold-tipped monastery complex is Southeast Asia's largest Nyingmapa institution. Tibetan market. Afternoon: Check-out. Begin return journey. Arrive Bangalore/Chennai by late night.

Best Time: October to March. Coffee harvest season (November-January) is magical — red berries cover the estate. Avoid heavy monsoon (July-August) when roads can be difficult.
